January 2026 Honoree
Barwaaqo Mahamuud, RN
I came into your hospital at possibly the lowest point in my life, having tried to end my life prematurely with an overdose of tablets and alcohol, unable to see a way forward.
Firstly, I met a nurse with the most beautiful disposition; this nurse was Bee. Her mannerisms and smile generate a feeling of love and warmth that can be felt throughout the entire ward, as she leaves each bedside.
You can almost touch the feeling of hope and optimism that she brings to each patient on Ward 5, a very rare gift, and one that, in my opinion, should be recognised. Sometimes, a person is stronger than the medicine that they administer. I hope that this hospital realises the gem that you have in your midst.

Thank you, Barwaaqo, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
