Bayane Khelili, RN

My brother J was admitted to the hospital with a stroke. He is 39 and has no past medical history. The entire care team was wonderful from the ED to discharge. Bayane was his nurse for a few days, and she really left an impression on us. She consistently went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, informed, and supported. She took the time to explain his treatment plan in a way that was easy for him to understand. His stroke left him with some word-finding and cognitive difficulties. Bayane was always so patient and reassuring.

Bayane’s kindness and empathy made a tremendous difference during a very stressful and frightening time for our family. In addition to her nursing expertise, what truly sets Bayane apart is her ability to connect on a human level. There was one particular day that J was feeling extra down, not sleeping well at night, tired of being in the hospital, and frustrated. Bayane took a few minutes and took him outside to the pavilion garden. The fresh air and the sunlight on his face for those moments really helped him feel somewhat normal again. It made a huge difference and really lifted his spirits. We will never forget that. We are deeply grateful to you all for your dedication, skill, and kindness. Thank you to Bayane and all of you who do such important work.
