I would like to thank Baylee Swift for everything she did for us! Baylee is an exceptional nurse. To say she went above and beyond would not even justify how incredible of a nurse she is. It was the best day of our lives, and I know it could have been different if it wasn't for Baylee.
The moment my contractions started hitting hard, and it was "go time", Baylee happened to be switching shifts and taking over for the nurse shift. We had been at St. Alphonsus already for almost 24 hours before my body was ready for delivery. Baylee walked into our room when my contractions were only a few minutes apart and acted as if she had known us our whole lives. She was calm, collected, encouraging, and understanding. Her voice was soothing, and her directions were clear and concise. When everything seemed out of my control, Baylee made it seem okay. She kept saying "you've got this", "only a few more pushes", "you're doing wonderful", "you will be able to meet your baby boy soon!", etc. Her voice, her statements, and her presence made the impossible seem possible. She supported us in a way that I can only describe as loving and safe. My husband and I both trusted her with our baby's and my life completely. It was amazing how she just seemed to be the missing piece we needed to go through this life-changing event.
After almost 5 hours of intense labor, our beautiful baby boy was born. Baylee not only helped us get through the labor experience but then helped us with everything after. She was there to help with the cleanup, feeding, bathing, adapting, adjusting, EVERYTHING. When it was time for Baylee to leave, both my husband and I were sad. She created this unbelievable relationship and connection between us all, and was there for the moment we became a family.
Then, the best thing happened, Baylee came back! She requested to be our nurse for her next shift. It was mind-blowing how helpful and sweet she was to us. The second time she helped us, she was just as sincere, loving, and caring. She helped with all the silly questions new parents have, and helped with tips and tricks that she uses with her own kids. Again, she made the impossible seem possible. She was a bright light and a very blurry moment. If all nurses were like Baylee, I think the world would never stop having kids. She is passionate, hardworking, positive, vibrant, empathic, and caring. Our experience was one that we will always remember because of Baylee. Truly, thank you, Baylee! You are wonderful. We were lucky to have you as our nurse when our son entered the world.
