Beatrice Perez, RN

I just wanted to recognize Beatrice Perez from the Emergency Department. We had a very hard day in the “Red Zone” last week. We were completely full of critical patients all day, including the hallway beds. We were already scrambling to make room for emergent ambulances and cardiac patients in the lobby when suddenly a patient cardiac arrested in the CT scanner. The nurses and Red charge nurse had to go to CT and resuscitate the patient, leaving many tasks undone. Bee Perez was the yellow zone psych nurse, and without even being asked, she immediately came to the red zone and took the place of the red charge nurse who was helping with the cardiac arrest. She moved patients, discharged patients, and directed EMS traffic. It would have been a complete mess without her intervention. She is a huge asset to the Emergency Department and Shannon Medical Center in general.
