Becky has worked as a home nurse for my son for almost his entire life. Not only does she go above and beyond caring for my son’s health needs and following his plan very carefully, but because she cares for my son’s emotional and developmental health as well. 

These things are not part of her job description, but she does them anyway. When she finishes her charting and her nursing duties with him, she never takes a break. Instead, she plays with him, talks with him, teaches him, and more. When Becky is in our home, our son is laughing all day. When she attends his doctor’s appointments or infusions with him, she strives to help him not be afraid, and she wants to comfort him and to make those experiences as pleasant as possible.  Our son is constantly learning new things with her and telling us about what Becky said or did that day because he is so proud of his time with her. Because of our son’s health, we worried about him missing out on developmental milestones and socialization, but she strives to make sure he never misses an opportunity to learn, play, and even get out of the house. My son is currently on track/even ahead developmentally, and we credit Becky with being a major reason why he is so smart despite so many health struggles and time spent inpatient. 

Becky has become our family. We love her, and we know she loves our son. She has been a blessing to us. 

She deserves this award because she does so much more than is asked of her.
