Becky Alexander
I would like to nominate Becky Alexander, RN (cath lab) for the daisy award. I am a registered nurse with Lexington Clinic Cardiology. I have witnesses what a wonderful and compassionate nurse she is to our patients that she has cared for when she worked on 41C Unit and now that she is the Cath Lab. She is very caring and takes the time to make all our patients feel comfortable during our patient's anxious time of admission. Her medical knowledge is outstanding and it definitely shows in her work. I got to experience this first hand when Becky cared for my mother on October 7, 2009. My mother presented to an outlying facility with chest pain and was transferred to our HISSU unit here at SJE for heart catheterization. When I arrived to meet my mother, she was in process of being transported to the lab. Becky was at her bedside getting her ready for transport and calming her. Just to see Becky there with my mother put my mind somewhat at ease. My mother was very frightened, but with Becky's kindness and humor, she helped ease her anxiety as well. Becky stayed with her during the long procedure that she had to endure and I am forever grateful to her. She treated my mother as if she was her own. To me, that is a true sign of an extraordinary compassionate nurse. To be on the other side of the fence is a very scary experience. Becky’s kindness and support went above and beyond her call of duty, but was very comforting. I thank her from the bottom of my heart. She has taught me how to be a more kind and compassionate nurse and I will definitely follow her example.
