Becky truly exemplifies the true meaning of a compassionate nurse. Around this time last year, Becky was taking care of a homeless patient whose shoes were ruined. It was snowy and freezing out. As this patient was getting discharged, Becky took her shoes off her feet to give to this patient so she could stay warm. I was notified of this amazing act of kindness by another nurse on the unit. Becky didn't want recognition for this, she was simply doing what she felt was right.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I was notified by a nurse working with Becky of another extreme act of kindness. Becky had just used her inspire points from last year donating her shoes to purchase a coat for the winter. She took care of a homeless patient who had fallen in water and had their coat ruined. Becky, without hesitation, grabbed her brand new coat to give to this complete stranger whom she knew needed it more than she did. We are beyond blessed to have Becky as a nurse in our FSED Network. She leads as a charge nurse by example and truly cares about the community that we serve.
