As an HCA employee who was in need spiritually, physically, emotionally, Becky went above and beyond for my family and me.
Becky Pridgen is an exceptional nurse and friend. As a fellow employee, I have worked with Becky on the EAG Committee at HCA North Florida Hospital. I have known her for years in her different roles at North Florida Regional Hospital. I knew she was an extraordinary nurse. However, when I was a month at Shands, Becky showed my family how special she was, as a fellow HCA employee.
At North Florida on Sundays, if I am working, Becky always brings me Holy Communion. This is always a special moment that I need. So, when I was in the hospital and requested no visitors, Becky arrived with Holy Communion. I can't say "no" to Holy Communion, so I gladly invited her into my room. She gave me Communion, then sat down with my daughter, Emily. Becky and Emily got onto my computer and started my short-term disability with Time Away from Work, with HCA Hope Fund, and with Social Security Disability. I was physically unable to perform these tasks and didn't even know where to begin. Becky was instrumental in helping me emotionally feel so much better when my health was not doing well.
On New Year's Day, Becky returned and decorated my family and me with New Year's attire. Again, Becky lit up the room. She supported my family emotionally and followed up on my disability applications. Again, Becky lifted me up with her kindness and compassion.
One month later, I was released from the hospital. Becky then delivered a three-course dinner to my family and me. This was a huge blessing, since I was unable to cook, and my husband and daughter went back to work. My family and I were so grateful. Since then, Becky has arranged for weekly dinners to be delivered to our house from the Angels of Mercy. She texts me frequently to make certain that I am ok. I am more than ok. I have Becky on my cheerleading team!
As an HCA employee who was in need spiritually, physically, emotionally, Becky went above and beyond for my family and me. Thanks to her, my disability and Hope Fund came through. As an HCA employee herself, Becky demonstrated what it means when HCA says, "We are family." It is so true. Becky was so energetic and passionate about my recovery and providing resources for my family and me. Through her kindness to me, she demonstrated the mission, vision, and values of HCA North Florida Regional Hospital. Becky went above and beyond to take care of my family and me- from one HCA employee to another. HCA is truly family.
