Becky Sammann, RN, put herself in the shoes of a scared little boy and made his visit to the Emergency Center a little bit brighter.

We had a young patient that was transferred to us with a serious injury to his leg. He was flown in and placed in a big trauma room which in itself can be horrifying for a 5 year old. But add to that he was surrounded by strangers and had all kinds of things going on. Becky was one of his nurses and made it her job to make him feel better. She let him watch cartoons on her phone and then went to her car and got a stuffed animal from her collections that she keeps for when something like this happens. She brought in the most adorable tiger and then wrapped the leg to look like our young patient's leg and placed the tiger in a gown. It made all of us feel better so I can only imagine how it made the little one feel. Becky showed that even in a traumatic event it only takes a little something extra to make it all better.

This is just one example of how Becky goes above and beyond for her patients and their families every day. Service is definitely her passion. We are proud to honor Becky Sammann, RN as our DAISY Award Honoree. Congratulations!
