A patient came in every week for a paracentesis. The admitting nurse noted that his feet were extremely swollen, and the patient stated that it took him an hour to get his shoes on that morning. Becky Scott RN had the patient post-op and noticed how swollen his feet were. Becky saw an ad in the paper for Croc shoes. The following day, Becky inquired feedback from her team members regarding the Crocs. They all agreed to chip in money for the shoes for the patient. The next day, Becky took time out of her weekend off and bought the shoes for the patient. The next week he came in wearing the shoes and told the nurses how much he appreciated the shoes and that they were so much easier to slip on. The patient has been wearing those shoes ever since when he comes in weekly.
