Becky has gone above and beyond in showing all of us that we are a team.
One day, help was needed in CVICU. I told the staff that help was needed on the other nursing units. I was asked to send someone to CVICU. Becky volunteered to go. She went to help out on the unit and saw firsthand how shorthanded the unit was and how emotionally drained the associates were. She did not get lunch and was scheduled to get off at 4:30. She ended up leaving after 5:00 pm. When Becky came back to SDS, she commented that "the nurses on CVICU are like the forgotten children". She immediately wanted to do something to show appreciation to them for everything that they are going through. She did not dwell on how bad her day was or any negativity. She voiced her concern about what she could do to show her appreciation for them.
This is the most prime example of feeling compassion and empathy for our team members. The next day her husband won some money from a scratch-off ticket. He gave it to Becky. She immediately texted me that morning. She stated that she had been blessed and she wanted to be a blessing to the associates by buying pizza for CV Stepdown and CVICU. She also wanted to get them some treats as well. Some of the associates in SDS and OR gave treats and it was taken to them this morning as a show of appreciation. Becky has gone above and beyond in showing all of us that we are a team and we are all in this together. With everything that is going on, this was much needed and I wanted everyone to know how special she is.
Note: This is Becky's 3rd DAISY Award!
