Becky Tippett is a wonderful example of a professional RN. She is a cheerleader for nursing as a career choice and can frequently be heard expounding on the opportunities available to nurses today. Her younger daughter is currently in nursing school and Becky could not be prouder. I have often over heard her talking on the phone with her daughter, giving her praise and encouragement as she navigates her way through each semester. Becky and her family are forgoing a big vacation this summer so that Becky can return to school, herself, in the fall to pursue a BSN degree. She is already registered to begin the CBU program and her excitement about continuing her education is contagious! She absolutely has taken responsibility for her own development, both formally and informally here in the ACT clinic, where she is always eager to learn more about the patients we see for long-term follow-up. Becky certainly demonstrates a spirit of inquiry. She always questions the status quo and seeks new and innovative approaches to how we interact and respond to the needs of our patient population in the ACT clinic. She is extremely conscientious of following St. Jude policy and procedure, but never hesitates to offer clever suggestions for improvement. Becky is a patient advocate; she provides excellent patient care and always goes the extra mile to make sure our patients' needs are met. Her knowledge and background in patient scheduling as well as her critical thinking skills allow her to facilitate scheduling revisions that can accommodate the ever-changing needs of the ACT patient population. Becky Tippett is a deserving nurse whose professionalism, caring nature, and resourcefulness make her an excellent nominee for the DAISY Award.
