My wife recently had a procedure conducted through the Same Day Surgery department with you at Methodist Germantown. During her recovery period, she experienced what I believe to be a severe adverse reaction with the medications she had been given as part of her surgery and recovery, and quite suddenly became respiratory depressed. She was completely unresponsive and had great difficulty breathing. Her nurse, Becky, very quickly recognized what was happening, and very calmly, very competently, and with great knowledge took control and I am convinced, saved her life. A fact for which I am eternally grateful.
C has never had major surgery nor the medicines required for, so how she would react to them was an unknown. Now we know, and thanks to your great staff she's home recovering comfortably. I wish I had the name of the anesthesiologist on call who was called in. He was absolutely instrumental in C's recovery and the example by which all physicians should be measured against in a crisis.
In summary, I wanted to highlight the impressively professional actions of your staff, especially Becky, who have impacted our lives so greatly. Thank you!
In addition, the Patient Care Coordinator gave these remarks about Becky. Becky interacted with the family multiple times throughout the day and after the incident showing kind understanding and compassion to the patient and the husband. I was very impressed with Becky and her careful consideration to advocate for this patient to remain in the hospital overnight for observation. She is a wonderful caring nurse and an asset to Methodist Germantown and the Same Day Surgery unit and is a true DAISY Nurse.
