Bee was able to develop that trust with me in such a short time period. If she said she would check on something for me, I knew that I would have the answer in minutes, not hours.
I was fortunate enough to be assigned to Bee a couple of nights into my stay here at Banner Gateway hospital. Though at first it was the normal routine, it would develop as she would sense that maybe I would like to talk a bit more. Not about procedures, but important stuff, like family, kindness, and helping others. This developed into even more meaningful conversations, where we could talk about everything from boots to music.
These conversations helped me in developing a closer relationship with my caretaker, because of her desire to want to help me. The level of trust that Bee helped to build is very important to us as patients, especially in a hospital setting where contact is so fleeting. Because we are more open to those whom we trust and Bee was able to develop that trust with me in such a short time period. If she said she would check on something for me, I knew that I would have the answer in minutes, not hours. Her efforts go above and beyond what she needed to do.
