BEH Post Anesthesia Care

My teenage son recently had surgery to repair a broken arm. While in PACU he was very anxious and shivering. We (his dad and I) were called back to PACU to help calm him. We had been with him for several minutes when he stopped breathing. Alyssa was attentive and noticed him going unresponsive, oxygen dropping, and his lips turning blue. She quickly called for help, and the team (Alyssa, Pam, Terri, and Kathy) started the resuscitation process. I am so thankful for Alyssa's rapid assessment and the team's response. I am a nurse myself, but all nursing judgment was gone as I watched them bag my baby. Not only was Alyssa quick to recognize an issue, but they were all efficient in their response and were calming and supportive presence to me and my husband. They are a DAISY Team for their care of my son!
