Belma’s years of experience and witness came in handy because that same night our loved one was on her way to get her appendix removed.
Belma’s clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. Our loved one came to the emergency room complaining of abdominal pain and symptoms that were worrisome. The doctors believed that what she was experiencing was Diabetic Ketoacidosis and was being treated to keep it under control. In the duration of the 2 days she kept getting worse. Her blood pressure was not steady. As the hours went by, her breathing was becoming weaker.
The changes of nurses started from day shift to night when we met Belma. As they were giving report, Belma immediately saw something was not right and started running to get the blood pressure checked and ordered for her oxygen levels to be tested. Few minutes after our loved one started getting connected to oxygen, the doctor ordered a CT scan of her abdomen. Belma had a suspicion that it could have been her appendix by the symptoms she was experiencing. Belma’s years of experience and witness came in handy because that same night our loved one was on her way to get her appendix removed. If it was not for nurse Belma, we would not have known exactly what was going on with our loved one internally. She went above and beyond for me and my family taking care of us and keeping us updated through all the process. Belma provided us insight on how the treat our loved one's wounds and what to keep a close eye on when at home. Her presence felt warm and reminded us of home always smiling and positive! We are extremely grateful for her existence and her kind nature of helping others in need.
