What mattered more than anything I've ever experienced in my 58 years is the feeling and extension of "pure love.'
I wish to extend a sincere "Thanks" for the attention I received leading up to and immediately after my life-saving surgery. Thank you for holding my hand as I was being prepared for the OR and immediately upon waking up, with tubes of every kind extending from my body. What mattered more than anything I've ever experienced in my 58 years is the feeling and extension of "pure love.' That is a gift beyond measure to the recipient, and I hope it is recognized by your team as the most precious thing you can offer someone who is traveling along "the edge of the divide.' It is so important for the patient to be holding the hand of someone who is firmly standing on the side of the divide. I pray you find it an honor that you've been allowed to touch so many in such a powerful way, regardless of the final outcome, and you will forever and always keep in mind and extend, whenever possible, the power of touch.
