Our family first met Ben Garland when our father was admitted for by-pass surgery. When complications arose the day following surgery, it was a dire situation. The staff acted quickly and spent a sleepless night completing a second surgery. As we hung on every word we received, Ben not only became our personal source of information but also our confidante and family friend. He not only performed these tasks but he provided medical care to our father not only "by the book", medical care but at a level of professional and person compassion we, nor our father, will ever forget. Our appreciation of Ben as a caregiver can only be approved by our appreciation of Ben as a Veteran of our Country's armed services. Congratulations to CGVAMC for recognizing those like Ben who continue to place others well-being ahead of their own.
