Ben was such a comforting, casual, and informative presence in the first critical days of my mother’s hospitalization. After flying in from out of state, I was very scared and emotional, arriving to see my mom intubated and unconscious, but Ben warmly asked me how I was doing, checking in on a timely manner to make sure I was informed, and all my questions were answered .

He was encouraging me to interact with my mom, not to fear the sedation, and to talk to her. He would give us realistic expectations while also elaborating on the hopeful signs and successful outcomes. We had him for three days before his vacation, but I will always be grateful for his amicable demeanor and assured presence. I am now confident my mom will have a successful surgery and will survive this terrible scare.
