When a patient was upset after finding out the price of her medication and realizing she was not able to afford it, Ben went to the pharmacy with his own money and purchased her medication for her. He is an Extraordinary Nurse. He did not ask for recognition or even tell anyone what he did. He just took care of the problem and made the patient's day.

While caring for a patient post-operatively the patient was given a prescription for a medication. Once the prescription was sent to our Publix pharmacy to be filled the patient was shocked to realize the cost and unable to afford the medication. Knowing there were no cheaper alternative medications that could have been used in substitution, Ben did not hesitate and went to the pharmacy, paid for the medication with his own money, and gave it to the patient. Ben did this because he knew this patient needed the medication and if they did not get it would most likely be non-compliant, thus hindering their recovery.
He is an Extraordinary Nurse and puts the patients' needs above all. Because of Ben's actions, the patient was able to go home with a successful recovery.
