It was an unforgettable, traumatic, and devastating day for our family. Although time has lapsed from that day, we have yet to, nor will we ever forget the remarkable care given by nurse Ben Mitchell. We feel like he should be recognized and praised for his phenomenal performance as a nurse. He made a profound and lasting impact on our lives that day due to the exceptional care he provided. Ben was top-notch. He was everything you hope and wish for in a nurse with our given circumstances. He had a great bedside manner. He was very attentive and thorough. He was proficient in nursing knowledge and skills. He showed genuineness and built a strong rapport with my husband and me. He treated my husband with respect and dignity in his most vulnerable state. He had great communication skills and patience. He took extra time to explain everything step by step, update us frequently with information, and answer any questions that we had. He was so kind, caring, empathetic, and compassionate. In the most stressful and heartbreaking situation, he built a personal connection with us. He provided support, offered comfort, and listened to our concerns, fears, and anxieties. His calm, friendly, down-to-earth, big-hearted demeanor brought soothing in such a terrifying time. He showed true concern and understanding. He went above and beyond for us. That night, when his 12-hour shift came to an end, he stayed. He stayed over his completed shift to see our care through. He didn’t leave until he himself helped load my husband up into the helicopter for transportation to another trauma hospital, and also made sure I had the hospital address to travel to. He showed true dedication. Ben is the perfect example of what a nurse should be. He has a true calling and gift for patient care. Memorial Satilla Health is so lucky to have Ben on their team.
