I am writing to recognize and commend Ben Wade for the outstanding care he provided to my mother during her stay on the unit. My mom entered the hospital through Emergency Services. She was admitted and then eventually moved to the PCU for some close monitoring. It was there that both my mom and I had the privilege of meeting Ben. As anyone knows who has been hospitalized, the experience can be very overwhelming and frightful. Ben's calm, compassionate, and warm approach immediately put my mother at ease. He was attentive and reassuring. He kept my mother informed and checked on her frequently, anticipating her needs. I can recall his genuine kindness and enjoyment in helping others. My mother was so positively impacted by his care that when she heard about the DAISY Award for nurses, she wanted to support him. Everyone encounters life's complications; they do not expect. My mother will be forever grateful that she met an angel like Ben Wade to help her get through it.
