Benjamin Boeck, RN

I am writing this letter on behalf of our entire family. Our world was shattered when our seemingly normal Saturday ended, leaving us with an unimaginable void. Ben was our calm during the early moments of this unexpected tragedy, and we were truly blessed to have received care from someone as dedicated and compassionate as he. Ben’s kindness and empathy stretched far beyond what some would even expect from such an encounter with someone who, in any other circumstance, our family would have never had the pleasure of meeting. Before retirement, he spent 35 years of his career with the Iowa DOT as the Highway Maintenance Supervisor. He also served on the City Council in Rockwell City, IA, transitioning into the Mayor position, where he was serving in his 24th year. He loved his wife, his family, his city, and his Hawkeyes. Giving back to his community and leading with selflessness were just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his incredibly long list of amazing qualities. Carrying himself with a quiet presence, honest words, and a kind heart were all things that he was unwavering in, and when these qualities are noticed in others, they should be recognized. I know he would agree with our family when we say that there is no one more deserving of the DAISY Award than Ben. As well, if Ben is chosen as the recipient of this Award, we would request the honor of presenting him with it.
