My sister was transferred to the unit after having suffered cardiac arrest in the pre-operative area. She was in very critical condition. Bernardo was just a gem, heaven-sent. She was pretty heavily sedated, but he talked her through every single aspect of her care. He would gently hold her hand when she would come to and become anxious from the ventilator or all the devices she was hooked up to. He treated me with such kindness and was very inclusive of me in everything, from updating me on every little improvement to thoroughly explaining each new medication or each additional procedure. He brought comfort to all our family members when we were at the bedside.
