All the nurses at DCH were exceptional. The care my son received during a very difficult surgery was phenomenal. All the nurses were responsive and caring, but Bernice stood out due to her going above and beyond during one particularly dark period for my son.
Bernice came in and talked to my son about the difficulties of recovering when he had such a buildup of scar tissue from three prior surgeries. She was very encouraging and got through to him when I could not. She explained the process and told him to allow his body to heal. I left the room to give Bernice some time to talk to my son and do not know what was said, but I am so grateful as his attitude changed drastically after her talk with him. I wish she could talk with him now and impart her words of wisdom, but I know it is impossible for her to follow up on every patient that she has impacted with her outstanding care and kindness. I wish Bernice the best. DCH is very lucky to have her.
