As a result, Bernie helped me deliver my little boy smoothly, and I only had minor 1st-degree tearing.
Bernie's bedside manner was extremely reassuring. This was my first baby and everything was unknown and scary especially when I was having a lot of pains during labor and delivery. Her voice was always calm and comforting and I felt she really listened to my concerns and wishes for the delivery itself. My biggest fear was pushing too much on my back (and having horrible tearing or needing an emergency c-section) and I really wanted to have gravity do the work as much as possible. She made sure that we switched positions during pushing (with the push bar, on my side), and she followed up with my early requests/birth plan to get warm compresses and counter pressure during pushing. As a result, she helped me deliver my little boy smoothly, and I only had minor 1st-degree tearing. Her support with the constant counter-pressure, oiling, warm compress, and talking me through the whole ordeal made my first birth experience a truly positive one. Any mother would be lucky to have her support them through the delivery process, and we hope her professionalism and compassion are recognized.

Note: This is Bernie's 2nd DAISY Award!
