Beth Nesbitt tirelessly cares and advocates for victims of sexual assault not only in Mt. Pleasant and Isabella County, but also for several surrounding counties. Beth has enthusiastically welcomed the challenge of operating and maintaining this program with limited resources (and often stepping in to provide resources where there are gaps), while constantly pushing herself out of her comfort zone to learn new skills to support the program (ex: grant writing! - no easy task!). Beth has also gone great lengths to reassemble and revive the community's SART (Sexual Assault Response Team), which has given law enforcement, health care, advocacy groups, and other community resources a forum to collaborate to do what is best for victims at large.

Outside of Administrative duties, Beth also takes her share of call to support the SANE program, and she works tirelessly to ensure victims, that victims treated in MCM's ER are given respectful, compassionate, and appropriate care. There is so much at stake for these victim's and Beth and her team ensure the victim is properly examined and the case is documented in a manner that will hold up in court to hopefully provide some semblance of closure, all while keeping the victim's mental health a top priority as to not re-traumatize them. The work Beth has done has given our community (and the surrounding communities without a SANE program) an invaluable resource -- programs like this should be prevalent, but instead they are scarce, and we are incredibly fortunate to have Beth Nesbitt leading the charge for MCM's SANE program.
