I have met a lot of nurses, but Ms. Beth was so different. I was admitted with pneumonia three days prior to my birthday. I was crying and upset because I was in the hospital. Before Beth even knew it was my birthday, she rubbed my back and said, “It’s going to be OK.” I didn’t want to hear that, LOL. Every time I needed my meds, she was on time. Every time my call light was pressed, she was right there. If another assistant answered and I needed something, she made sure I got it. Three days later, I woke to Ms. Beth saying, “Happy Birthday!” She remembered! I had the biggest smile on my face. I received a birthday brownie and a card on my tray that had me in tears and smiling. She didn’t have to remember or say anything…it wasn’t her job. She made me feel more special on my birthday, and she didn’t even know. She loves what she does.
