I am writing to nominate Charge Nurse Beth for the DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary compassion and support during an incredibly difficult time. Beth went above and beyond in caring for a patient's grieving wife after the heartbreaking loss of her husband of over four decades. In the face of profound sorrow, Beth exhibited unwavering empathy and kindness. Her genuine compassion shone through as she offered a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and a compassionate heart to share in the pain. Her genuine, heartfelt connection with the grieving family exemplifies the true spirit of nursing. Beth's actions comforted the grieving wife and helped her to see that although she was not immediately present at the time of her husband's passing she had had a loving and peaceful impact on him as he came to his final moments. Beth's meaningful presence and reassuring words will allow this grieving wife to begin the transition through the grieving process without the burden of guilt. As a result, I believe Beth absolutely deserves the DAISY Award and sets the best possible example for her staff to emulate.
