Beth was compassionate and caring on both the up and down days, offering support for all of us.
I would like to recognize one of my colleagues for the DAISY Award. Beth Gravitter has taken care of some of my family members over the last several months. I want to especially point out the selfless care she gave my father and the support she provided to my mother, brother, and myself. Her physical/behavioral assessment of my father’s condition was as if she had known him herself for years.

For any changes in his condition, we were immediately notified. She knew what he needed and when he needed it. She knew what he liked and disliked so she could arrange her care around the behavior that we now know is caused by brain cancer. I also had heard through someone that she picked up extra shifts and worked 8 in a row so she could continue the continuity of care for my father. We were puzzled as to what was going on. She would never say this because that is just who she is. She helped my mom and advocated for her when she heard her on the phone crying due to miscommunication with medical records. She comforted her and spoke up for her.

My brother expressed how amazing she was and the care throughout. Myself, I witness this selfless care on an everyday basis for all her patients. She is a nurse that lives out Aspirus Mission and Values:

Accountability - Beth took accountability/responsibility for my father’s care seriously, and accurately with assessment and changes.

Compassion - Beth was compassionate and caring on both the up and down days, offering support for all of us.

Collaboration - She worked with the physicians closely and shared changes in condition (signs/symptoms) and advocated for transfer.

Joy - Shared some light on even the darkest days to keep us upbeat, smiling, and laughing.

Foresight - Again it was as if she knew my dad for years and could read ahead of time what he was going to need before he needed it. My family nominates this amazing nurse, Beth Gravitter!
