I had an 80-year-old woman receiving a spinal injection prior to her surgery. She needed to sit on the edge of the bed with her legs hanging down. My patient was tiny but kept saying that she felt like she was falling off the bed, even though I kept reassuring her.
Beth Gudeman happened to walk by and realized what was happening. She gathered three standing stools and stacked them on top of each other so the patient had somewhere to brace her feet. The patient was immediately more relaxed and stable. She couldn't thank Beth enough, and I never even thought of doing something like that.
Beth is an all-around great coworker. She is always so positive and energetic and just an awesome person to be around. Caring for our patients is her #1 priority, and she does everything she can to maintain their safety and dignity while in one of the most vulnerable areas they can be.
