I had surgery to have my tubes tied and for an ablation. Once I awoke, my emotions got the best of me and I could not stop crying. I have been on an infertility journey since my early 20's, had many ups and downs, and a lot of sadness and loss. A miracle baby was born in 2008, only to lose two more after.
Beth, my nurse who was with me in recovery, could just sense that something else was not right because I was crying. She held my hand and allowed me to talk through tears how it was just...over. She listened to me, even though I know she was on her lunch break. She took the time to talk with me, explaining that these feelings were normal after this surgery. She gave me a hug and just validated everything I was feeling. I appreciated the care that she gave me. She knew that she had to stop and give me a little extra love. She met me where I was at.
Thank you so much, Beth, for allowing me to break down in that space and for listening to me so deeply and with understanding. It really meant a lot to me, because there are not a lot of times to spill those tears over something; not many understand. You made a real difference to me.
