The small things that people do sometimes go unrecognized. Beth doesn't know this, but the small thing that she did for me made a huge impact. After amputation of the fifth metatarsal head, I experienced an issue with bleeding and was in the recovery room an extra hour or two. The bleeding was the result of chronic anemia disease and Plavix. Arrangements were made for home care, however, they would not arrive until the next day. I had asked for a few dressing supplies, in the event I needed them before the arrival of home care, but the Recovery team forgot. Beth came to my rescue and gave us just what we needed to get by. On the way home from the hospital, I had bled through all the packing and dressing. We were so thankful to have what we needed and so thankful for Beth, she got us through the night!

I was very impressed with the professionalism of all the staff and their care and concern for me and my wife. Beth Liptak, the discharging nurse, really stands out. Beth was professional and able to explain all our home care in a very understandable manner. She made my recovery at home so much easier. Her follow-up calls were extremely helpful. Beth's compassion as a nurse was very evident to us.
Because of the professionalism and care that I received during my visit, I will come back to UPMC Mercy in the future. Thank you, Beth, for all you do every day!
