As my baby was transferred to NICU, Beth sat down on the bed beside me and let me cry my eyes out to her. She kept me calm and helped me to focus on other things, while they were taking care of my baby.
I came to 5 Tower after delivering my little girl early in the morning. When Beth came into my room, I knew she was going to be a great nurse. I had no idea at that time just how amazing she would be. Sometime after 9 am, I looked at my daughter and noticed she was trying to swallow but couldn’t. I picked up my baby girl and realized she was not able to breathe. I called out for my nurse while trying to get my baby to breathe. My baby then turned blue right in my arms. Beth came running in and grabbed my baby to try and get her to catch her breath. Within seconds, Beth called a rapid response and was trying to get everything under control. I have no idea what I would have done without her quick response. As my baby was transferred to NICU, Beth sat down on the bed beside me and let me cry my eyes out to her. She kept me calm and helped me to focus on other things, while they were taking care of my baby. I can never thank her enough for saving our baby.

What Beth didn’t know was, the same day my baby was born, was unfortunately also the anniversary of my mother’s death. My baby was named after my late mother. When I saw my baby struggling to breathe at just a few hours old, combined with the thoughts of my late mother, my state was unbearable.

My nurse, Beth, is a true example of a DAISY Award winner. She displays excellence in nursing and deserves this award more than anyone. I am proud to know we have nurses like Beth working in the organization.
