Beth Melville works Monday thru Friday as the PHP/Admission nurse. Some days she walks into five admissions waiting for her to be done ASAP. She is never short or bothered by this and addresses each family and patient with a smile and calm assurance that they will be taken care of. She has many people asking her questions while she is balancing the hectic day and will turn and look each person in the eye and answer them with her full attention. I haven't met many people who after 40 years here continue to show the positivity she does. She is someone I want to be more like. She never is pessimistic and always willing to work with a smile. What a fabulous addition she is to our hospital.

Beth is a nurse that leads by example. Beth is positive, patient-focused and welcoming. Beth has a very busy position in the C&A PHP program but is always willing to help whenever and where ever she is needed. Beth is one of our shining star nurses.

I worked with Beth many years ago on the adult unit Elm unit. She was a great Charge Nurse. She was organized, firm and yet kind and very helpful. She was never rattled when the unit was very busy. Beth wanted what was best for patients as well as staff. She lives Pine Rest's mission!
***
When I taught at Hope College, my students were assigned to C & A as one of their units. When Beth was off from work for a few weeks, the C & A Unit had a note hanging in the nurse's station that said: WWBD - I was told it meant "What Would Beth Do?"
***
As a manager I always strive to inspire my staff, with Beth more often she has inspired me.
