I have been fortunate to have been precepted by Beth Stay over the last year at Froedtert Hospital's Simulation Center, and previously had her as an instructor during my undergraduate education. She has a passion for education, and though her background is in nursing, she is devoted to giving all learners experiences that will help them thrive. From the housekeeping staff to the Advanced Practice Providers, she is dedicated to ensuring she learns about all roles and provides the best high-fidelity experiences for them to flourish in their specialties. She collaborates to create meaningful simulation experiences tailored to the needs of the learners. She is approachable and supportive, making staff feel comfortable partnering with her no matter their background. In addition to helping create meaningful simulation design plans, Beth is also a formally trained Simulated Participant. She will play whatever role is needed and has been given informal awards for her stellar work as a professional patient.

Beth made sure that I had a well-rounded experience during my time with her. She made it her mission to ensure I got the best learning experiences possible, and showed me every healthcare simulation-based resource she could find. All of the simulations that we participated in and helped design, she reviewed and explained in depth so I would be prepared and confident when collaborating with those we partnered. She included me in the meetings with the Simulation Coalition, a partnership between our organization and other local area hospitals. Even after my practicum, she includes me in this group because she knows I have a similar passion for education. She helped me develop a relationship with our Human Factors Department to collaborate on a future capstone project, even though she had never previously worked with that department.

In addition to being a huge role model and positive influence to me, Beth shares her love of simulation and connects it to practice change with others as well. She presented at the 2022 Magnet Conference in Philadelphia. Her work on Enhancing Healthcare Simulation through Growing Facilitators shows her dedication to helping others create meaningful learning experiences for the staff of Froedtert Health. She helped create and implement the Clinical Facilitator and Simulated Participant courses, and she supports all who attend those trainings to achieve their professional development goals.

She also helps promote simulation across the Froedtert enterprise. She maintains the system-wide intranet page for the Simulation Department, as well as serves as the digital communications team member to promote the Simulation activities on our workplace social media site. She was a key contributor in helping our Simulation Center become one of three Simulation Centers in Wisconsin accredited by the Society of Simulation in Healthcare in 2022.

Beth would rather nominate others than promote herself. She is selfless, kind, smart, and a genuinely wonderful human being (all while parenting 4 young boys!). She is more than deserving of this DAISY Award, and I would love to see her get the recognition she so deserves.
