We now have a teddy that he's named Beth and his Mr. Happy Face glove that she made him to help with his sensory issue around the IV antibiotics. This woman really is a superhero and deserves the world.
My son, A, went into the hospital with an infection behind his knee and in his hamstring. He really struggles with new people due to having autism and sensory processing disorder. We had an absolute nightmare to get A to take medication to have bloods done, cannulas fitted, and sit through IV infusions until this amazing lady came along. She really did create such a special bond with A, she gained his trust in a gradual process and made him feel safe and at ease with just how kind and caring she is. She made sure A was OK all the time; she spoke him through all his treatments and let him try to take a bit of lead and have a bit of an option, which was great and helped A not be scared of everything in the hospital. She had great conversations with A and really did make him feel special. A suffers greatly from anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and autism so Beth coming along was so amazing as he had been so petrified until we met Beth. He cried once she had to change shift as he told everyone she was his favourite nurse, and he loves her. We now have a teddy that he's named Beth and his Mr. Happy Face glove that she made him to help with his sensory issue around the IV antibiotics. This woman really is a superhero and deserves the world. She went above and beyond and helped make such a scary, hard time for my neurodevelopment child an easier, happier time, and I will be forever grateful we got to have such an amazing, caring, compassionate, and understanding nurse.
