Bethany Klier is the perfect example of a leader who maintains the balance between hands-on leadership and allowing her caregivers to maintain their independence and individuality. Bethany excels at discovering the wants and needs of the caregivers in her department and finds ways to promote their strengths and help them achieve their occupational goals. In providing this nurturing and growth-based atmosphere, she allows us to learn and collaborate with each other, which enhances our skills. We discuss challenges and barriers in the wound and ostomy patients we treat, brainstorming solutions or finding educational resources to assist in expanding our knowledge. This leads to better and safer patient care.

Bethany goes above and beyond 7 days a week, 365 days a year for her staff and our patients! Every one of these days she greats us all with trust, compassion, mutual respect, encourages us to continue our education/professionalism and hold ethical behaviors as our highest standard. She promotes the true meaning of quality and compassionate wound/ostomy nursing, along with our collaboration with our peer nursing groups and community. She truly works endless hours to grow a dept. that was just a 1-room, outpatient clinic (in MDU once upon a time) 10 years ago and now with 3 clinics (8 rooms in total across all of central Oregon), services now offered in skilled nursing facilities along with our forever growing need in the inpatient setting as we serve every single dept. (literally) for any of their patients wound or ostomy needs.

Bethany pushes us to do our best every day, she supports us when in need no matter the situation, and she shows love and compassion in all she does. Her work here has been incredible, and I am one of many to say I am so very honored to work under her. Her qualities are endless! I love what I do as a wound/ostomy nurse and continue to do what I do at the very best that I can do each and every day because of Bethany! She is the most intelligent, strongest, loving and most fearless leader I have every had the pleasure to work alongside in my 17 years of nursing! A true star... or in this case a DAISY!
