Bethany Mesing, RN

Not many people have the heart Bethany has. The way she cares so deeply for her patients is inspiring. As ECMO coordinator, she is present for the sickest patients and their families and treats them like her own family. I have many stories of her compassion, but to keep me from writing a novel, I’ll stick to the most recent.

There was a patient who was passing. Their family could not make it to the hospital in time to be there. Bethany held their hand, brushed their hair, and assured them they were not alone in their final moments. I have had the honor of being a bedside nurse with Bethany as my ECMO specialist, and seeing the way she fights/advocates for her patients makes me want to be a better nurse. I hope she never loses her compassion! Any patient would be lucky to have her, and I feel safer for my patients when she is around- she is full of kindness, heart, and knowledge!
