This past year has been one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced. Bethany has been a shining light through it all. As my mother-in-law made her descent into the fog of Alzheimer's and we visited Carilion Clinic more often, Bethany patiently and lovingly helped her each time.

Bethany reassured my mother-in-law when even simple medical procedures like checking blood pressure had become confusing and disorienting for her as her dementia increased. Bethany even made a point "check" the stuffed toy dog she carried with her at all times. 

Bethany and the other caring staff members made the end of her life so much more peaceful for her. This was such a comfort for our family. I was reminded of Bethany's caring professionalism today when I went into the clinic after injuring my elbow. As always, she was professional and caring. Bethany never seems impatient or rushed and is always positive and friendly. I hope Carilion recognizes how much of an impact compassionate nurses like Bethany have on the patient experience.
