A very complex patient was transferred from the ED with many extensive pressure injuries. Bethany did an incredible job with documentation, photos, and advocacy for surgical evaluation. Within a few hours of transfer, she called me to advocate for the patient. Even though I could not evaluate the patient the same day, we collaborated regarding her assessment. When I arrived to evaluate the patient the following day, I noticed all the following she was able to accomplish for this patient:
Wound consult, utilizing the wound reference guide, wound staging, extensive photo documentation and annotation, ordering an air fluidized bed, coordinating assessment with the hospitalist and wound care team.
She regularly attends wound care classes and it shows. Bethany is a rock star and a pleasure to work with. She is a true patient advocate. I hope this nomination brings to light that she is an exemplary caregiver.
