I have had the pleasure of working with Betsy for the last couple of years focusing on the Patient Experience and Staff Engagement of the ICU units, which she manages. During this time, I have observed one of the most compassionate and determined leaders when it comes to ensuring that her patients have the best possible experience while in the team's care that I have ever worked with. Her genuine and consistent connections with patients and her staff via Nurse Leader rounding and Staff Engagement rounds are evidence that she embodies her role as a nurse leader seriously and humbly. Betsy is highly visible on her units, knows her patients, and knows her staff. She is very knowledgeable in her specialty, ICU, and supports/implements other programs that ensure safety, and quality care experiences for patients while in the care of Lee Health system. For example, Betsy leads the HAPI Reduction efforts at our hospital and the system work that is specific to chemical restraints. In addition, she recently and successfully led the nurse pump upgrade for the campus as well.

Betsy has multiple certifications related to her field and is highly respected by her peers and her direct reports. She is reliable and always volunteers for various staff engagement and celebration events; ie. Betsy was an amazing Grinch at our Holiday celebration last December and recently took the lead organizing her peer leaders for the Patient Experience Week breakfast. Betsy is an exceptional leader and role model for all to follow.
