Betsy gives 100% of herself to the unit and to the patients we care for every day. She has instilled in her staff from day one to always think and do what is best for our patients, but what makes her stand out from the rest is she leads by example. We know that she has multiple managerial duties to do, but when she knows our unit is in need or most importantly our patients are in need, no matter the circumstance, she takes care of it.
Today she took a patient on the unit and when someone asked her why she took the patient, her answer was simple "it was the best thing for the patient". Today was one of many occasions she has taken care of patients on the unit until it was safe enough for a staff nurse to pick the patient up.
Not only as a manager, but also as a nurse she is not told enough how great she is. It is a pleasure to be able to write this nomination for her because she is a true DAISY Nurse. She exemplifies FirstHealth's vision every day "To Care for People".
