Bettie Parra-Foraker, BSN, RN

My mother suffered a stroke and spent much of the following week in the ICU. While all of the nurses and staff provided excellent care, Bettie truly went above and beyond in attending to both my mother’s physical and emotional needs.

Bettie checked in on my mother — and on our family — regularly to ensure she was comfortable and cared for. She explained everything with ease, grace, patience, kindness, and compassion, helping to ease what was an incredibly stressful and emotional time for all of us. She was especially attentive to my mother’s heart readings and took the time to explain any concerns she had rather than leaving us anxious or uncertain.

My mother is an extremely picky eater and has a very restrictive diet due to allergies and other medical conditions. Despite this challenge, Bettie never gave up trying to find something my mother could and would eat. She was persistent, thoughtful, and genuinely determined to help, continually exploring options and encouraging my mother in a caring and supportive way.

Bettie is a tremendous asset to both the department and the hospital. Her professionalism, compassion, attentiveness, and dedication to patient care made a profound difference during a very difficult time for our family.
