Betty was here during the tornado that hit Marshalltown this past year in 2018. They did a tremendous job guiding the ED staff through that difficult time. More recently we had a 4-month-old baby come into the ED as a CPR. She does an excellent job of maintaining calm and moving forward in stressful situations. She knows that I too have a difficult task of trying to assist the family through the loss of a loved one and remembered to ask me if I was doing ok. They provide a positive outlook. Some staff who assisted in the CPR were left questioning whether they should even try to have children when something like this could happen. She reminded them why we do this kind of work and had an excellent idea of stopping by the nursery and remembering so many children are born healthy and have good turnouts. She is a positive person and a leader.

I am a volunteer EMT of a surrounding town to Marshalltown. UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown is the main hospital in whichwe transport. Whenever we come into the ED and Betty is the nurse and no matter how crazy of a day or night they may be having there is a sense of calm when entering the ED. She is always cheerful and a friendly face in the middle of chaos.
