Betty is all the things a nurse should be knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, down to earth, helpful, and kind. She works her tail off every day with a smile across her face. Betty interacts with every Veteran, whether or not they are her patient; all Veterans are her patients. She will stop what she is doing in a heartbeat to help any Veterans or staff. I can always ask her questions or voice concerns; Betty will have my back. She walks each Veteran out from their appointments, sometimes holding their hand, letting them know they are cared about. We needed assistance when a Veteran was lost one day; he was a wheelchair user. Betty was walking by and said, "Is everything ok?" We explained to her he was lost and could not transfer to the shuttle to get where he was going," she immediately said, "Oh, no worries, I'll take him," and off she went with the Veteran. Betty does not hesitate when something needs to be taken care of; whatever she needs to do, whenever she needs to do it. She always takes the time to ask everyone how they are doing, and you can tell she truly cares. She is driven to be the best she can be every day, and it shows. She is everything a nurse should be and more.
