Betty Watson, MSN, RN
When my son was born, he had to go from Sentara Obici to Norfolk General to be evaluated for a heart condition. It was probably one of the scariest days of my life. Betty arrived with the transport team and introduced herself to me and my husband. She explained everything that was going to happen. The way she talked to my 1-day old son made me feel comfortable sending him with her. I didn’t want him to be alone, but I just knew he would be ok and feel safe with her.
Fast forward 7 months and my son had an allergic reaction. He had to be transported to CHKD from the urgent care we were at. When Betty walked into the room I was instantly relieved. She has a way about her that is impossible to put into words. Once again, she got my son to CHKD safely so he could get the care he needed. It is very hard to leave your baby when he is sick, but a caring, compassionate, knowledgeable nurse like Betty can make it a little bit easier.
