During a recent shift in the ED, Bev Thomas clearly showed caring and compassion above and beyond. A patient came in to the ED in alcohol withdrawal. She had no family to help her. Her husband had passed away. Bev sat with the patient and attempted to help her through the tremors, sweating and mental issues she was experiencing during the night. The patient had come in on an ambulance and had no one to pick her up. In a gesture of great caring, Bev Thomas offered to come back when she was released to take her home. She asked the day shift nurses to call her so she could do this. It is important to note that Bev worked all night and wanted to come back during the day to help the patient. This is how Bev is. She is a true example of extraordinary nursing and is deserving of the DAISY award.
