We put him in the car, and I drove to the hospital. I carried him in my arms into the hospital, and he was not responding. When the hospital staff saw us, they jumped to it and got him right to a room.
The following time at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital was a blur, as doctors took scans and evaluated his injuries. A staff member at the hospital, Bev, went above and beyond to provide support as she waited to hear the news. She held my hand, brought me from place to place, and literally gave me the coat off her back. I came to the hospital with nothing, and she offered me everything that I needed. We were wowed by responses like that. It was amazing how much people cared who didn't even know us. It was amazing.
