Bev Zahn, BSN, RN

I am writing this nomination as a colleague and as a parent of a patient. I have had the honor of working with Bev for a little over a year now and I can tell you wholeheartedly that she is the backbone of the perioperative/endo department. This department could not work as efficiently and effectively without her. Bev's knowledge and expertise as a nurse are unmatched. Not only is she extremely competent, but she is truly an amazing person. She is a living example of an exceptional caregiver. She not only takes care of her coworkers but also the patients. She goes above and beyond every day that she is here. She has been a pillar of support for patients during the hardest time of their life and equally supportive to her coworkers. I had the privilege of having Bev care for my 2-year-old daughter yesterday when she was having surgery. Although I knew exactly what was going to happen, when you are the parent and not the nurse it's still incredibly difficult. Bev took her time with us and supported us during the whole pre-op period. I was comforted knowing Bev was helping to care for A. I think this award nomination is well overdue and well deserved.
